3/29/2017 Update: See the letter from the Lakeview PTSA to the Kirkland City Council
Lakeview Elementary PTSA members voted in a special meeting on March 20, 2017 to oppose the proposed re-zoning of the Houghton & Everest Neighborhood Centers. For information on the proposed re-zoning please see: http://www.houghtoneverestcenter.com/ or city website: www.kirklandwa.gov/he6th
Why did the PTSA take a position on this re-zoning?
The re-zoning proposal does not consider educational impacts but merely defers that to the Lake Washington School District. It will continue to put pressure on our schools with respect to overcrowding. Lakeview is already overcapacity and will have classes in the shared spaces next year. The school district cannot keep up with current City growth and zoning. A negative impact on schools affects all kids living nearby now and in the future.
What is the project timeline?
